Fastest Supercomputer Link in the Nation …

Runs right through the heart of the Discovery Triangle!

Cox Business Arizona installed the nation’s fastest fiber-optic connection between ASU’s Saguaro 2 supercomputer and TGen, 10 miles away in downtown Phoenix.

“Cox Business has invested significantly in the communications infrastructure of the Discovery Triangle to make high-capacity bandwidth available,” said Hyman Sukiennik, vice president-Cox Business Arizona and a Discovery Triangle Board Member. “Our Cox LightWave Service accomplishes data transfer 100 times faster and with 100 percent security over our wholly-owned network.”

On the Horizon

Marty Shultz and Sara Dial, two of the Discovery Triangle’s fearless leaders, joined Horizon host Ted Simons to talk all things Triangle. Take a minute to watch it here.

Did you hear the one about . . .

What does the relocation of an Arizona-grown tech company, the opening of an urban marketplace, a $123 million acquisition and the sale of a prominent 3.2 acre parcel in Tempe have in common?  Check out this month’s good news from inside the Triangle!

2010 Environmental & Sustainability Summit

The Discovery Triangle joins the Arizona Manufacturers Council, the Arizona Chamber of Commerce & Industry and Arizona Businesses Advancing Sustainability for the 2010 Environmental & Sustainability Summit at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott this afternoon.

Chambers on Board

The Greater Phoenix, Scottsdale and Tempe Chambers of Commerce have endorsed the Discovery Triangle. It’s a natural relationship — with our shared goals for growth and development of businesses, while enhancing the quality of life within our communities.

Business Support Is Vital to Success

Shop owners, restaurateurs, manufacturers and other business owners and their employees — their participation will make us successful.

We look forward to working with the thousands of businesses represented by the Chambers to create an authentic, vibrant urban environment that will benefit us all. Thanks to Chamber leadership for their collaborative vision and support as we work to advance regional planning and economic vitality for our region’s urban core!

Urban People, Urban Places

To help shape and grow the urban lifestyle of the Discovery Triangle, we conducted an extensive analysis of the economic, environmental, intellectual and cultural vitality of the region.

What’s in the Discovery Triangle today?

Who lives in the area? What businesses are located in the Discovery Triangle? What are our resources? What recreational, cultural and entertainment venues are located within the 25-mile square miles?  What intellectual amenities exist? What we found was a promising community, rich in amenities:

The Discovery Triangle initiative will ensure these local gems continue to thrive and become the seeds that will grow a unique, urban lifestyle to retain and attract technology-oriented companies and their employees.

Scottsdale City Council vote does not affect our plans

This week’s Scottsdale City Council vote will not affect the plans for the Discovery Triangle. We are moving full-speed ahead with Papago Park as the northwest corner. Our priorities for the months ahead include completion of the asset inventory, development of best practices and guiding principles in public policy and each of the nine areas of focus, and creation of our marketing tools.

Our efforts and energies are laser focused on those who embrace the vision, recognize the value of leveraging our collective assets through regional collaboration and produce significant returns for our region’s economic vitality through their leadership.

Our Board, partners and the Cities of Phoenix and Tempe are squarely aligned in their support and have created tremendous energy and positive momentum for the movement.
